Hi! I'm Shikha.

How I work and what this means for you

I work primarily with couples (pre-marital, marriage/couples, and discernment counselling. In my therapy sessions, I create an open and relaxed environment where we can have honest conversations about your thoughts, feelings, and relationships. Every thought and feeling you have is valid and I aim to create a supportive space where you (and your partner) can freely explore and express yourself. I'm here to listen, provide insights, and help you develop practical strategies for overcome the challenges you are facing. We will work together to explore what’s going on in your life, give you practical skills, and celebrate your progress.

Because every person and every relationship is unique, I use a personalized approach meet your specific need. My work with couples is balanced between using treatments backed by research (such as Gottman Method, EFT, and sex-informed therapy) as well as human experiences. With Gottman Method, you will learn conflict resolution skills. With EFT, we will explore attachment and bonding with each other, and with sex-informed therapy, well…you are not roommates!)

Whether you are looking to heal from past trauma in relationships or improve your current relationships, my goal is to help you develop the skills and resilience you need to overcome your challenges. Therapy with me is not about “rushing to find you a fix” or putting a band-aid on the challenges, but it’s about building a supportive connection where you can grow, heal, and feel empowered.

Outside the therapy session.

I know the feeling of being in a toxic relationship, not being able to share with others because you know it’s best to walk away. But unable to leave because of the fear of being alone and the unknown. Through my own healing journey, I’ve learned to put myself first, address my people-pleasing behaviour, and work through the trauma and depression. I’ve learned the meaning of “healthy relationship” and I hope this is something I can support you with as well.

Fun Fact: I play the violin.

Best Piece of Advice I received: What is happening to you may seem negative because that is not what you wanted. But in the grand scheme of things, it is a positive which you can’t see yet.

Go-To Therapy Book: Attached by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller. If you are coming for relationship struggles, I will probably recommend this book to you as it helps make sense of so much!
