Support to complete direct and indirect hours through 50 minute (or longer) virtual counselling sessions, conducting consultations, intakes etc.

Working with young adults and adults with relationship issues, trauma, and general mental health struggles such as anxiety, depression, stress, grief, etc.

Opportunity to gain experience with various therapeutic approaches including such as Somatic therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, Narrative, Gottman, and Trauma-informed perspectives

Please note, we do not have an on-site supervisor. As such, student must work with an external supervisor to fulfill practicum requirements. To save you the hassle, we can help you find an external supervisor.

Practicum Placement- May 2025

We are now accepting student for practicum placement for May 2025 start date to provide virtual therapy to clients in Ontario.

The Therapeutic Way, Counselling and Psychotherapy Services offer online individual, couples, and family therapy to Ontarians over the age of 12. With a focus on relationship issues, attachment injuries, relational trauma issues, and narcissistic abuse recovery, we take a relational and attachment-based standpoint to therapy. Our approach to counselling is holistic, eclectic, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. We help clients heal the relationship they have with themselves and with their loved ones.

Ideal Candidate

Prior work or volunteer experience in mental health or related field are preferred

Fluent in English, have strong verbal and written communication skills, have strong time management skills

Self-reliant but also know when to ask for help

Interest working with adults with relationship issues, relational trauma, attachment wounds, narcissistic abuse recovery, along with other general mental health issues

Willing to learn and improve their skills in individual, couples, and family counselling

Possess or in the process of attaining Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) designation with the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario before the start of Practicum

Comfortable working with an external supervisor

Abide by CRPO and ethical guidelines and Yorkville University Guidelines

Possess individual liability and malpractice insurance

Ability to provide a minimum of 13.5 onsite practicum hours per week for two full trimesters as per Yorkville University requirements (or up to 10 client hours per week)

Additional training in mental health and counselling is an asset

Able and interested in contributing to our blog posts

Quiet and private office space with strong internet connection
