How I work and what this means for you

As we begin our collaborative work together, I make sure I get to know you as a person and learn how together, we can get you to where you want to be. I will always meet you where you are with compassion and non-judgment, because I want you to feel safe to open up and have straightforward, honest conversations. I tap into curiosity, kindness, genuineness, and humour to help you feel at ease as we explore how your relationships, environments, and lived experiences have helped to shape who you are.

I work with you through an anti-oppressive, identity-affirming, and trauma-informed lens, and see you as an individual, not as the problem you are seeking support for. As your therapist, I trust in your expertise of who you are, what you have experienced, and what matters most to you. I believe in your capacity and gently challenge you towards greater self-insight and expansive self-concept. I empower you to define your personal resources and make personally meaningful choices in healing.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, combining aspects of narrative therapy, somatic therapy, expressive arts, and mindfulness to suit your comfort level and needs. If you are seeking deeper trauma healing, navigating relationship challenges, or wanting to redefine your relationship with yourself, I will support you towards recognizing your own power, and standing confidently within it.

I have lived experience with navigating major life transitions in areas of grief and chronic illness. This has helped me to understand that honouring the grieving process as a complex and individualized experience is so important in healing. The latter has informed an anti-ableist and depathologizing lens. To support those in their journeys towards radical self-love, I understand how your relationships and situations can impact self-concept, nurture self-advocacy, and explore coping tools to support overall wellbeing.

I am also a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and recognize the importance of using queer-affirming language, respecting autonomy in evolving identities, and advocating for the rights and needs of my fellow members.

Fun Fact: I am also an artist, and enjoy drawing, painting, and textile arts. And I’m a cat person!

Best Piece of Advice I received: The most valuable relationship you will nurture is the one you have with yourself.

Favourite quote: “When we liberate ourselves from the expectation that we must have all things figured out, we enter a sanctuary of empathy.” (by Sonya Renee Taylor)
