South Asian community focused - Attachment Wounds & Healthy Connections

8 week of group therapy support online.

Are you South Asian looking to learn more about how you form relationships with others?

Addressing the effects of childhood and attachment wounds, this group explores how early experiences shape adult relationships. Topics include identifying childhood traumas and attachment styles, healing abandonment issues, setting boundaries with South Asian parents, and creating healthier relational patterns.

This group therapy support is a safe space for you to explore how your early relationships and childhood trauma shaped your current patterns while building connections with others.

Who are we?

At The Therapeutic Way, Counselling and Psychotherapy Services, we specialize in Narcissistic Abuse Recovery, Trauma healing, Attachment/ Childhood Wounds and Relationship issues. We work with a variety of people from different cultures and background helping them navigate life gaining a sense of autonomy.

As South Asians, we were not brought up with “gentle parenting” that is taught today. We were often exposed to strict disciplines, emotional unavailability from parents, striving for perfectionism, and “log kya kahenge” (“what will people say”).

You are not alone. As children we don’t see how our parents have affected us. We tend to see this issue presenting more in adulthood when we ourselves get in romantic relationship with others or we are actively working on our relationship with ourselves. As such we have decided to create a support therapy group for those who would like to heal as a community.

Facilitator:

Vrushalee Nachar, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

Group Therapy Details.

Attachment and Childhood Trauma Group Therapy for South Asians provides a culturally sensitive space to explore the impact of early relationships and traumatic experiences on current emotional and relational patterns. In many South Asian families, open discussions about emotions, boundaries, and trauma are often avoided, leaving individuals to navigate complex feelings alone. This group offers a supportive environment where participants can unpack the effects of childhood experiences, such as parental expectations, emotional neglect, or intergenerational trauma, on their sense of self and their relationships.

Led by a licensed therapist, the group incorporates culturally relevant practices and therapeutic techniques to foster healing and growth. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of attachment styles, learn how childhood trauma influences adult relationships, and develop tools to build healthier connections. Group members will also find solidarity in shared experiences, reducing feelings of isolation and shame.

This therapy group is designed for South Asians seeking to break cycles of emotional pain, reclaim their narratives, and build a stronger sense of self. Whether you’re struggling with trust, intimacy, or unresolved family dynamics, this group can help you navigate these challenges within a culturally affirming and compassionate space.

Some important concepts we will cover:

  • attachment styles (secure, anxious, avoidant, disorganized)

  • emotional regulation skills

  • triggers and how to cope

  • managing difficult emotions

  • healing abandonment issues

  • inner child healing and healing childhood trauma

  • navigating living in an individualistic country with collectivist background/family

  • setting boundaries and assertive communication

  • forming healthy (secure) relationships with others

  • and a lot more!
